Day 9: Alexa, take me the scenic route

Hej!

The weekend finally hit and it was a great day! We all got some much needed sleep and slept in until 8:30. Once we were all up and half alive, we headed over to Tin Tins for breakfast. I finally got my scrambled eggs and orange juice and I could not have been happier!! The fire station was the first stop for our group today. Matt’s dad is a firefighter so he wanted to exchange a shirt from their station (let’s hope my dad doesn’t get mad that I didn’t do that!). Unfortunately, the fire station was closed…? We are going to try again on Tuesday!

After that we headed over to Universium. Universium is a museum that has a couple different areas to it. Our favorite was definitely the rain forest, it was almost as if we went to Costa Rica instead of Sweden! There also was a very cool ocean area where we saw a lot of “nemos” Met two people at Universium that were from Milwaukee, WI. They were here for a synchronized ice skating event for team USA.

Tonight we headed out to a Himalayan restaurant for a group dinner. If this trip has done one thing for me, it’s introduced me to new foods. But I’m ready to be back in the US with my chicken and veggies meal. The restaurant was definitely something that was out of my element and I can’t say that I will try it again, but it was a one time thing!

We also have a couple birthdays on the trip today and this week, so after dinner we went to celebrate the ending of the trip and their birthdays! One of the most odd things I’ve learned today was that clubs often require you to be 25 in order to get in. We eventually found one and has a great time there celebrating everyone’s birthday. Tomorrow is gift shopping day, make sure to send your requests before then!

Top Takeaways:

1. Apparently fire stations are closed on Saturdays? I hope there isn’t a fire!

2. Most clubs in Sweden require you to be 25 AND have a 200+ Kronos cover charge (about 20 USD)

3. Tin Tin has the best Americanized breakfast you can find.
